Glass

Barbara Ann (Snyder) Glass, of Altoona, passed away Saturday. She was a daughter of the late James Conrad and Catherine (Wolfe) Snyder.

On Sept. 14, 1957, she married Donald T. Glass.

Surviving is her loving husband of 67 years, Don; daughter, Jane, married to Dwayne Yerty; son, Michael, married to Beth Glass; daughter, Susan, married to Bob Franks; and daughter, Mary, engaged to Tom Menna; and sister, Kathy, married to Bob Fry. In addition to her husband, children and sister, she leaves behind a legacy of 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Barb spent her life in service to others. Always a leader in the congregations of which she was a member, she was instrumental in establishing the United Methodist Church’s Mission Central Warehouse for disaster response in Mechanicsburg, Pa. Additionally, she co-founded and led the local Altoona Mission Central Hub for decades.

A proud graduate of Penn State, she loved cheering for the Nittany Lions almost as much as she loved cheering for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s events and activities.

Her adventurous spirit led her everywhere, from motorcycle rides to horseback jaunts to cruises on the ocean she so deeply loved.

Her faith and trust in God was a shining example to everyone she encountered, and while she is wholeheartedly missed by all who knew and loved her, we also give thanks for her faith that continues to assure us that “all is well.”

Friends and family will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona; and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, Oct. 18, 2024, at the funeral home, with Pastor Joleen Willis officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Barbara to the Altoona Mission Central Hub, 1738 N. Branch Ave., Altoona, PA 16602.
